Wages & Benefits
You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired man are not to remain with you all night until morning.”
–Leviticus 19:13
Federal and state laws establish minimum standards for the provision of wages and benefits. Employees are entitled to compensation for all hours worked. Moreover, the general rule is that you are entitled to overtime unless you are exempt from overtime requirements. Being paid a salary alone does not mean that you are not entitled to overtime. A good rule of thumb is that if you are making less than $50,000 per year in salary, then there is a good chance that you are probably entitled to overtime. However, even if you are making more than $50,000 per year, you still may be entitled to overtime. Please take a look below where we provide a brief overview of some of the laws that apply to wages and benefits.
